Adventist Youth

“I Am the Sermon”

I am passionate about AY because every child in the Heights is my child too and I bear a responsibility that none be left behind, that is why the overriding theme for the Midland Heights Youth this year will be evangelism and participation. To this end the AY Department is partnering with the Youth Sabbath School teacher to teach biblical principals in Sabbath School.

Every 1st and 3rd Sabbath we will have an AY program that will be fun, inventive and interactive. Those who have participated and attended an AY program already this year have seen and felt the excitement.

Every 4th Sabbath of the month after church we will be going out as a department for Youth Ministry training. This will involve team building exercises, skit practices, faith sharing, and actual evangelistic events which will utilize the theme “I am the Sermon.”

March 16 Evangelistic Global Youth Day was the launch of MHC Youth evangelistic events. On Sabbath afternoon the young people visited the Continuing Care Unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and performed their skit entitled “The Prodigal Son” (some of you would have seen the skit during the Benefit Concert last month) for the residents and staff. The AY team was very proud of our young people’s first outreach effort they did great at CCU.  The staff were impressed and the residents invited us back anytime.

We will have social events that are open to all members and friends. During the summer when all our youth are back from their various schools a youth week of prayer is planned. During that week the unique evangelistic talents of our youth will be highlighted.

What we need from our church members and leaders is prayer, support and encouragement and in return we promise commitment and perseverance.

In addition to these plans for 2013 we are also looking at the feasibility of a mission trip for our youth in the summer of 2014.  Logistics are being worked out from the donations and commitments  provided each Sabbath to give our youth a close up and personal look at Global evangelism.

Thank you,

Cecil Hendrickson,
AY Director
